Custom Seat for Intruder 198 Center Console

This low profile leaning post was built for an Intruder 198 that needed a shorter seat height. A standard leaning post would have blocked the aft hatch, so we designed this frame with extra-short legs. The seat still has plenty of padding, yet it keeps the cushion at a comfortable height for both sitting and leaning. Because the frame ties into reinforced spots on the console, it feels sturdy even in rough water.

Short Legs for Full Hatch Access

The main goal on this build was to keep the rear hatch easy to open. We used heavy-duty angle brackets as backing plates under the base, which spread the load across the hatch lid. As a result, the hatch can open fully without the seat flexing or feeling loose. This setup gives the owner full access to storage and rigging while still enjoying a comfortable low profile leaning post.

Frame, Rod Holders, and Grab Rail

The frame is fabricated from anodized aluminum pipe, which helps protect the metal from salt and sun. Four rod holders across the back keep rods rigged and off the deck. A grab rail at the front gives passengers a solid place to hold while running. This layout matches the features of our standard Sea Series leaning post, but in a shorter package tailored to this boat.

Cushion Style and Color Options

The cushion and backrest use marine-grade vinyl over high-density foam. This Intruder runs a shell white flat vinyl to match the factory cushions.
